If you have a large collection of movies, a collection that just keeps on growing, then the Plastiliq Software-developed application MovieHive is ideally suited for you. This is a very easy to use movie cataloguing application that lets you create and manage database of all your movies. You can add any title you want, you can add a lot of info about a title, you can link to online resources, you can manage your loans, and more.

To get MovieHive up and running on your Windows-powered PC (support for Xp, Vista, and 7 is provided; 32 as well as 64-bit editions) you will first have to download a small archive onto your machine. Inside the archive there’s an executable that you need to run. Do so and a setup wizard will show up; go through the simple instructions it presents and moments later you’ll be done with the installation process.

MovieHive’s interface is divided into two panes. The one at the top presents a thumbnail view of all the movies in your collection. You can use a slider to zoom in on these thumbnails or, if you don’t like thumbnails, you can switch to a list view – the slider works when you opt for the list mode as well. The pane at the bottom presents more info on whatever movie you select. So, all your movies are presented in the pane at the top; select a movie and more info about it will be presented in the pane at the bottom.

A sample collection of movies is included so that you can quickly get accustomed to the functionality MovieHive has to offer. Speaking about functionality, the simple and to the point explanation is that you can use the application to create and manage a movie collection – add the titles you want, choose what movie info you want to add, rate the movies in your collection, stay on top of loans, password protect your collection, and view statistics about your collection.
